Your AC15 (AC1900) router made by Tenda is the hub of your Wi-Fi network. Without it, you would not be able to spend countless hours diving deep into your Facebook or Youtube feed. However, that Wi-Fi network does not appear out of thin air, you first have to set up your router.

  1. The first step of setting up your AC15 (AC1900) router is to ensure you have access to the internet. If you have had a router before, then you have an ISP or Internet Service Provider gateway. If you do not, then you should contact your desired ISP and get an internet connection installed in your property. Assuming you have a gateway already, connect your laptop or computer to the gateway with an ethernet cable. If that device can now access the internet, then you are good to go.
  2. Now is the time to open up your new router. Take the unit and accessories from the box, making sure to keep any paperwork safe as these will contain configuration instructions, the login details for the router, and the IP address. Some routers come with antennas that need connecting to the unit. If that is the case, do that now. Place the router in a place that you desire though it is best to be in the middle of your property or closer to a room that will see lots of Wi-Fi use. You should also try to place your router up high to ensure even distribution of the network. Also, bear in mind that your Tenda router will need to plug into the electricity and the gateway mentioned above. Watch out for possible signal blockers such as concrete walls or metal, and keep the router away from your microwave, as they both emit similar frequencies.
  3. Once your AC15 (AC1900) router unit is assembled and in place, plug it into the mains and power it on. Once you power on the router, an indicator light will come on to show you are ready to go. The power-up process can take a few minutes.
  4. Finally, connect your router's WAN port to the internet gateway by connecting the two with an ethernet cable. A new indicator light will power on to show your internet connection is up and running.

Access And Configuration of AC15 (AC1900) Router


  1. Get out your laptop or computer once more, and connect it to the router using an ethernet cable. Some routers will provide a basic but instant Wi-Fi network, and if that is the case, you can connect to that using your smartphone or tablet.
  2. With a connection established, open up your web browser of choice.
  3. Enter the IP address of your AC15 (AC1900) router into the search bar of your browser. You can usually find the IP address on the base of your router or in the paperwork that you put somewhere safe before.
  4. Searching for the IP address will take you to the login page of your router's interface. It is here that you will need to input the default login details, which you can again find on the base of the router or in the manual of your AC15 (AC1900) router

  • Secure Your Router

    The default login details for the AC15 (AC1900) router are the same for any other Tenda AC15 (AC1900) routers, meaning anyone connected to your router can make changes. For that reason, the first thing you should do is change the username and password for the router interface. The field to change these login credentials is in the administration or similarly named tab. Make sure you use a secure password that you won't forget.

  • Secure Your Wi-Fi Network

    While securing your router, you should take the opportunity to secure the Wi-Fi network it provides. While on the router admin page, look for the option titled Wireless security or similar. Here you will be able to choose a security scheme such as WPA2, WPA, or WEP. You should aim to select WPA2 though not all devices are compatible with this security scheme. Some routers have multiple Wi-Fi networks that can overcome compatibility issues or may allow a single network to work with multiple security schemes. Make your choice and enter your desired password. Hit save, and your Wi-Fi network will have a new, secure password.

  • Changing The Name Of Your Wi-Fi Network

    Though it is not a necessity, you might as well change the SSID or Service Set Identifier of the Wi-Fi network, while still on the admin page of your AC15 (AC1900) router. Search through the menu for the SSID label and change the name to something you desire, as long as it is not offensive. Doing so will help you differentiate your network from others in the proximity.

  • Changing Your Wireless Channel

    Again, changing the wireless channel of a AC15 (AC1900) router is not a necessity. However, doing so can lead to a smoother internet browsing experience on older routers that primarily use a 2.4ghz band to deliver their Wi-Fi. If all the networks in the area use the same channel, your internet will be severely restricted. Look for the wireless network settings and change the 2.4ghz band to channel 1, 6, or 11 as these channels don't overlap, unlike channels 1 and 2, for example. A network that uses a 5ghz band will not usually need the channel changing.

  1. With your computer or laptop on and connected to the router, though not in the router's interface, open up the menu that shows your available networks. For Windows, you can find the menu in the bottom right of the desktop. For Mac, the menu is in the system preferences menu.
  2. For both operating systems, select the network you have connected to.
  3. For Mac, the IP address of the router will be next to the word "Router." For Windows, scroll down the page, search for the IPv4 Default Gateway. It is here that your Tenda AC15 (AC1900) router's IP address will be listed.

Private Vs. Public IP Address

While scrolling through the menu to find your IP address, you may come across similar-looking numbers under different titles. That is because a router has two IP addresses, the private one detailed so far and a public one. Only you and the devices connected to the router can see the private IP address. All of those connected devices also have private IP addresses, which helps the router send information where it needs to go. As the private IP address gets used for the internal network, it is possible for other people, all over the world, to have the same private address, which will not affect your internet usage in any way.

On the other hand, the public IP address is visible to the websites you visit and gets used to transmit information from that website to the ISP, then on to your router, which use the above private IP addresses to send the data to the device on the network that requested it. For that reason, the public IP address is unique between users, with no router such as Tenda AC15 (AC1900) having the same public IP address at any one time. The ISP only has so many numbers to use, so your router gets assigned a new dynamic public IP address each time it connects to the internet. You can find your current public IP address by searching in Google for "what is my public IP address?"

Your public IP address can offer third parties a rough idea of your location, so many opt to use a VPN service, which will generate a random IP address to say you are browsing from somewhere you are not. You can use that same VPN service to view online content restricted by a location.
