Logging In To Your Netgear Router

The Netgear Router Interface is exceptionally user-friendly and allows you to set up your router, adjust your settings to suit your individual needs, and secure your wireless network. All you will need is your Netgear router, access to the internet, and a web browser.

The Netgear Nighthawk RAXE500 is the world's first WiFi 6E router capable of delivering cumulative wireless data rates of up to 10.8 Gbps. Avoids interference from many other household devices that operate in the congested 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The router can handle up to 12 streams of tri-band Wi-Fi with four streams in each of the 6 GHz, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. This provides low latency for gaming, as well as stable Wi-Fi channels with 160 MHz bandwidth for streaming. The quad-core processor is clocked at 1.8GHz and there are five Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports.

Follow these steps to log into your router:

  1. Use your computer, smartphone, or tablet to connect to the internet. For LAN, connect your PC to your Netgear router with an Ethernet or CAT5 cable. For Wi-Fi, select the Network icon at the bottom right of your computer screen, and search for all available connections. Select your Network, and log on. On your smartphone or tablet, search for available connections by selecting Wi-Fi under the Settings tab. Select your network and log in when prompted for your password.

Make sure that you are using your Netgear router’s internet connection. It is best to use a wired connection to make sure you are accessing your router. Wired connections are more stable than Wi-Fi, ensuring that you do not drop the connection before you saved any changes.

  2. From your device, launch any web browser. All browsers are supported so you can use the one you prefer.

To access the Netgear router interface, visit either http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Should you receive an error while trying to access either of these pages, try to clear your internet browser cache. In some cases, using a different browser might also work. If, for instance, you were using Internet Explorer, try Google Chrome.

If this does not open the login screen, try to connect by entering the Netgear router default IP. You can use either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. At this time, your browser might give you a warning that the connection is not secure. Accept the alert and continue.

Your Netgear Router Login page should now appear.

  3. Using your username and password, log in to your Netgear router. If you have not logged in before, use the Netgear default username and password.

If you forgot your password, you could reset your Netgear router. At the back of your router, press and hold the reset button and allow your router to reboot. It is now reset to the original factory settings, use the default login credentials to continue. For security reasons, remember to change your password to prevent unwanted access.

  4. You are now logged on and able to adjust the settings for your router using the user-friendly Netgear router interface.

What to Look For

When selecting a Netgear router, this is what you should look for:

  • Ports – Make sure that the router you choose can accommodate all the devices you want to connect using the Ethernet Ports.
  • Range – Depending on the space you live or work in, more antennas mean better coverage. If you want your router to provide 100% coverage, you need to consider the size of the space and how far you want the signal to extend outdoors. 2.4Ghz has an average range of about 150 feet. Routers with 5Ghz included have about the same range indoors, but double the range outside. For bigger spaces, you should have at least four antennas.
  • Multiple bands – A single-band router is acceptable for basic use, but you will need at least dual-band or even tri-band if you want to connect various devices. Most routers that can handle multiple devices have good bandwidth, deliver fast speeds, and have a strong signal.
  • Price – Although not a feature, if you are on a budget, price is essential. Netgear offers affordable routers that will have the best features to suit your needs.

For those just starting in the world of routers, Netgear has very powerful and affordable start-up routers for beginners.

Netgear has the best range of routers available with many options that will meet the need of every home or office.
